He leaned in even closer to whisper. "You say you're here by mistake, so I'm assuming you don't want to be here.. Is there any possibility of you having any sort of...of loving feelings towards me?"
- The Selection

Again another book I picked up when I was about 12/13 years old. If you know me then you would know that I love anything to do with princes and princesses.
The Selection is ruthless process where 35 girls are chosen to compete for the heart of the prince. Prince Maxon. The book follows America Singer, level 5 in the caste system, thus, dwindling her job opportunities to the world of Artistry or Performing. The book explains that the only way to move up or down this system is via marriage. America and the other 34 selected girls are given the coveted chance to escape everything they know, leave everyone they love behind and become the future queen of Illéa. Not wanting to be part of the selection America did it for her mother. For America the selection means leaving her family and Aspen, her secret love stuck in caste 6, all for a crown.
For many this may not appeal to them but I do believe there is more to the books than a prince searching for a princess, there is a whole dystopian world. There is a world where caste systems exist and a world threatened with violent rebel attacks.
I personally really loved it and found it enjoyable. I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone who loves the Bachelor and even Bachelorette reality TV show.
Perfect for anyone doing a reading challenge, anyone needing a quick a read and most importantly to anyone in the horrible state of a reading slump!!!!
